The SACRAMENTO SHERIFF'S Posse was first organized in 1937 and first performed as a drill team in 1952. The Posse is the oldest continuing Drill Riding Organization in the United States. The Posse has a long tradition of riding Palomino Horses with matching sterling silver tack. Pictures The Posse has ridden in the Rose Parade and in Four Presidential Inauguration parades. The Posse is the 2006 Mounted Color Guard Champion for the Volunteer Sheriff's Teams and the 2006 Mixed Division Drill Team Champion at the Cow Palace. The Posse is the 2006 Senior Dvision and High Point Drill Team Champion for the California State Horsemen's Association. The Posse also serves the people of the State of California by acting as the Governor's Mounted Honor Guard. The Posse is a volunteer organization, and is lead by Sacramento County Sheriff John McGinness. The Captain is Robert Lorbeer.
